PANTONE
color camp
In this hands-on, imagination-fueled camp, children dive deep into the fascinating world of color—not just as something they see, but as something they understand, create, and name for themselves.
Throughout the week, campers explore the fundamentals of color theory: primary, secondary, and tertiary colors; warm vs. cool tones; complementary and analogous combinations; and how color influences emotion, design, and storytelling. Through painting, drawing, collage, and playful experiments, they discover how colors work together—and what makes them pop.
One of the most exciting parts of the camp is the introduction to the world of Pantone—the global standard for color identification and matching. Children learn how Pantone colors are used in everything from fashion and interior design to branding and packaging. They explore color coding, hue, saturation, and value, gaining the vocabulary and visual awareness of real designers.
Using their new knowledge, campers mix their own custom shades—working with paint and other media to invent never-before-seen colors. They then get to do something truly special: name their colors, just like professional colorists do in the Pantone system. Whether it’s “Sunset Dragon,” “Bubblegum Sky,” or “Stormy Lavender,” each child’s personal color becomes part of their creative identity.
By the end of the week, each camper creates their own mini Pantone-style color book—a handmade swatch library of their custom colors, complete with names, codes, and descriptions. This beautiful keepsake is both a celebration of their learning and a portfolio of their creativity.
More than just an art camp, this experience teaches children to observe the world more closely, think like designers, and express themselves through color. It builds visual literacy, confidence, and an appreciation for the hues that shape our world.
